Behind every outstanding technology, there is always a greater humane need.
In our modern life, with hundreds of tools, devices and “things” that we are constantly using in our daily activities, we struggle to maintain the focus necessary to make the dozens of decisions required to take advantage of all the things around us.
The need to ease our lives and enhance our experiences becomes more crucial every day. With an increasing number of daily tasks filling the time we’ve saved elsewhere, it becomes harder and harder to pay attention to even the simplest of details. Thus, negligence becomes seemingly inevitable and unavoidable. Luckily, technology and innovation intervene to further ease our challenges and transform complexity into simplicity, and chaos into well-being.
The introduction of technologies like smart metering systems, M2M and, most importantly, IoT have been leading the way to a new smart world.
The expression Internet of Things (IoT) was coined by the British technology pioneer Kevin Ashton in 1999. IoT is a means of creating a network between objects, or “things,” allowing them to be uniquely identifiable, and providing them with the ability to transfer data over this network. This means extending the connectivity and communication beyond traditional tech devices, to everyday objects. For example, sensors or thermostats can be applied to everyday objects, which can then transfer data regarding temperature, pressure, speed, etc. automatically to our smart phones or computers.
Internet of Things is growing rapidly to connect everything around us, creating a network, of sorts, between the “things” in our lives.

International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that 32 billion objects will be connected to the Internet by 2020.
Technology often emerges for our convenience, and quickly becomes an indispensable part of our lives.

From energy optimization, predictive maintenance, and monitoring of radiation levels, to monitoring and controlling intelligent buildings with intrusion detection systems, connected appliances, and leak detectors, the Internet of Things seems unlikely to stop revolutionizing our world anytime soon.
Enhancing public safety, environmental monitoring, traffic analysis, and improving emergency services represent a few of the capabilities of IoT. With remote sensors connecting streets, building, vehicles, and items, Internet of things will turn cities around the world into smart cities, as it could be a perfect fit for every aspect of our lives.
